New Westminster, B. C. - The City of New Westminster is pleased to announce the appointment of Blair Fryer as the City’s first manager of communications.

Fryer brings 15 years of communications experience to the position, most recently as the senior manager for Iris Communications, a public relations firm in Vancouver, where he worked with a wide range of clients including charitable foundations and local school districts.

“We are delighted to have someone on our team with such extensive experience in communications planning and community engagement,” says Rick Page, Director of Legislative Services. “Blair will play a pivotal role in implementing a comprehensive plan for the city that meets both our internal needs at city hall, but also ensures effective communication with residents and businesses in the community.”

Fryer was selected from 120 prospects who responded to a national search over the Fall.

“We’re very pleased to have Blair join us,” says Mayor Wayne Wright. “There are a lot of exciting things happening in New Westminster right now and our new Communications Manager is going to help us get that message out.”

Wright says it is an added bonus that Fryer is a ten-year resident of New Westminster and is well versed on issues in the city.

Blair Fryer is now the primary media contact for the City of New Westminster and can be reached at: or 604-527-4688
