New Westminster – The City’s 150th anniversary celebrations will kick-off on February 14th with an afternoon tea at Century House. The event will honour a very significant date in New Westminster’s history – February 14th marks the date in 1859 that our city became the first capital of the new Colony of British Columbia.

 

“The traditional afternoon tea will honour our city’s rich heritage and celebrate long-held traditions that survive to this day in New Westminster,” said Rick Page, Chair of the 150th Celebrations Committee. “We encourage everyone to join us for this exciting event as we officially kick-off our anniversary celebrations.”

 

The afternoon tea will take place from 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm at Century House, 620 8th Street. Tickets are $15 and include a limited edition 150 th anniversary pin and traditional afternoon tea service. Please RSVP by February 6th to the Celebrations Office by phone at 604-515-3848 or email at .
