New Westminster – Based on information provided by the BC Ministry of Environment River Forecast Centre, the City of New Westminster wishes to advise residents that the Fraser River spring runoff has peaked and is now receding. Given current snow conditions in the mountains, there is a very low probability for water levels to rise again this year.

Though the 2009 Freshet did not require any mitigating action, the City of New Westminster would like to remind residents of the importance of being prepared for any emergency by reviewing their family emergency plan and keeping a well stocked emergency kit. For more information, please visit the Emergency Preparedness section of the City of New Westminster website at www.newwestcity.ca.
