New Westminster – The New Westminster Police Pipe Band is conducting a series of outdoor rehearsals in the city as they prepare for the World Pipe Band Championship to be held in Scotland later this summer. Residents will have an opportunity to enjoy the rehearsals as the pipe band travels to a different location each week.
Under the musical direction of Pipe Major Angus MacPherson and Lead Drummer Cam Dodson, the New Westminster Police Pipe Band continues to be a competitive force with success both at home and abroad. The Band was the BC Pipers Aggregate Champion in Grade 2 from 2000 until 2003. In 2002, the band won the prestigious Bridge of Allan games in Scotland, besting 25 competing bands in the process. In 2005, they placed second in the North American Championships at Maxville, Ontario.
The New Westminster Police Pipe Band will play from 7:00 - 9:00 pm at the following locations and dates:
Grimston Park Thursday July 2
Moody Park Thursday July 9
Sapperton Park Thursday July 16
