New Commissioner appointed to New Westminster Electric Utility
New Westminster, BC – Local resident Donald McLellan has been appointed as Commissioner of the New Westminster Electric Utility Commission. With three decades of experience in financial management, McLellan joins fellow commissioners Martin Gifford (Chair), Mayor Wayne Wright, Terry Parsons and Paul Daminato in providing governance and oversight for the City’s Electric Utility, serving 26,000 residential customers and 3,000 commercial customers.
“I’m very happy to welcome Donald McLellan to the Electric Utility Commission, the oldest continuously operating electric utility in British Columbia,” said Mayor Wayne Wright. “I know he brings a wealth of experience to the Commission which will be very positive as we continue our work in managing this critical infrastructure for our citizens.”
A Certified Management Accountant since 1987, McLellan also holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of British Columbia. He has held senior financial roles both the public and private sector including serving as Director of Financial Services at Coast Mountain Bus Company and as Comptroller, Financial Planning and Reporting for the British Columbia Liquor Distribution Branch. He has also worked as a Senior Rates and Policy Analyst for BC Hydro.
“Donald McLellan’s experience and knowledge will be a tremendous asset to our Commission as we conduct our business,” said Martin Gifford, Chair. “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank outgoing commissioner Jim Glanville for his many contributions and look forward to working with Donald in the months ahead.”
Donald McLellan’s three-year term on the New Westminster Electric Utility Commission commences May 1, 2010.
