Aragon Properties and City of New Westminster unveil public art at Quayside
New Westminster, BC – Representatives from Aragon Properties Ltd. and the City of New Westminster joined residents of the Quayside neighbourhood and members of New Westminster’s arts community today at an unveiling of the City’s latest installation of public art. “Diver Inverse” was created by Vancouver sculptor David Robinson and was commissioned by Aragon Properties Ltd., which completed their latest project, the “Q”, at Renaissance Square in 2009.
“This impressive work of art is a wonderful addition to the City,” said Mayor Wayne Wright. “It demonstrates our commitment to public art in New Westminster and to fostering a vibrant arts and cultural scene for the enjoyment of our residents and visitors alike.”
David Robinson’s work has been shown internationally and is held in private and public art collections around the world. “Diver Inverse” was developed following a public process involving consultation with neighbourhood residents and in cooperation with city staff. The sculpture completes Renaissance Square and provides a dramatic new public art centrepiece for Quayside.
“Aragon Properties is pleased to announce the unveiling of “Diver Inverse”,” said Lenny Moy, President of Aragon Properties Ltd. “This important piece of public art marks the successful culmination of neighbourhood building on the Quay that Aragon was happy to be a part of.”
