Neighbourhood Learning Centre Task Force Delivers Draft Report
New Westminster, BC—The Neighbourhood Learning Centre (NLC) Task Force has provided a draft report to the Board of Education, which recommends programs and services to be included as part of the new NLC schools being proposed.
“As part of the overall project plan we need to submit to the Ministry of Education for approval, the NLC programs and services are a critical component,” said Casey Cook chair of the NLC Task Force. “We received great feedback as part of our consultations with the public and stakeholder groups this fall and feel we’re on track with plans for complimentary services for the children, youth and community of New Westminster.”
The three new schools being proposed will be developed under the Neighbourhood Learning Centres (NLC) model which provides school and community space to deliver services for children, youth and families of New Westminster.
On November 23rd the NLC Task Force submitted a draft report to the New Westminster Board of Education with recommendations for programs deemed appropriate for the purpose-built and multi-use spaces for each NLC. The report has been sent to all stakeholder groups who participated in the consultation process held this fall for their review.
