What is the Queensborough Community Plan?
The Queensborough Community Plan is the City’s vision for the future growth and development of the Queensborough community. The Queensborough Community Plan will integrate policies on land use, the economy, the environment, transportation, community facilities and services into a broad strategy to direct growth and development.
Who creates this vision?
This vision will reflect the ideas and input of the people who live, work, and play in the Queensborough and who participate in the preparation of the Plan.
Why is this Plan helpful?
The Plan will provide the City with a guide for development by establishing policies and guidelines, and designating land for specific uses. It will provide clear direction for how Queensborough should grow in the coming years.
What legal status will this Plan have?
The Queensborough Plan will lead to an amendment of the City's Official Community Plan (OCP) for the Queensborough area. All OCPs are prepared under the authority of the Local Government Act, which states that an OCP is a statement of objectives and policies to guide decisions on planning and land use management. It is a policy bylaw that guides growth and development of a community.
Does Queensborough already have a Plan?
Yes. But it has been 13 years since it was created, and it’s time for an update to account for how Queensborough has changed and to better plan for the future. Click here for the current plan.
How can I get involved?
Public consultation is happening now! Watch this space for details.
