Heritage

As the oldest incorporated City in BC and the first capital of the Province, New Westminster has its historic evolution from pioneer settlement as a destination point along the gold rush route. New Westminster evolved into a stately Victorian city as is reflected in the fine period architecture of several commercial, residential and institutional buildings. The fortunes of the City have ebbed and flowed ever since the city started in 1859. Today, New Westminster is renowned for an excellent collection of Victorian and Edwardian buildings in all neighbourhoods of the City
