Biographical Information

Chuck Puchmayr has been a resident of New Westminster since 1978. He has been active in many local organizations since that time and was a founding organizer of the New Westminster Food Bank. Recently, he was a governor of the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame. Currently, he serves as a Director of the West End Business Association and is on the board of A Beef with Hunger Society, an organization that raises beef for food banks, community school programs and local non-profit meal providers. He was elected to city council in 1996 and served in this role until 2005, when he was elected Member of the Legislative Assembly for New Westminster. As the Opposition Labour Critic in Victoria, Chuck advocated for working families on a host of issues until he stepped down from provincial politics in 2009.

Now back on Council, Chuck serves as Chair of the Emergency Advisory Committee, the Multicultural Advisory Committee and Alternate Chair of the Massey Performing Arts Centre Task Force. He is a member of the Youth Advisory Committee and the Multi Use Civic Facility Arts Task Force and is also Council Representative on the Lower Mainland Treaty Advisory Committee and the Communities Embracing Restorative Action Society Board.

Chuck is a transplant survivor and continues to be a vocal supporter of BC Transplant and organ donation. He is a resident of the west end and together with his partner Amber Anderson, has four adult children.
