Fire and Rescue | About Us

New Westminster Fire and Rescue Services is one of the oldest fire departments in the Province. We are dedicated to be on the forefront of technology, fire suppression methods, medical care as well as hazmat and technical rescue. The department's emphasis on diversity, honour, respect and teamwork helps us to achieve our goals.

New Westminster fire crews are first on scene to provide rescue and safety service 24 hours a day for the residents of New Westminster. To be prepared for any of these emergency situations, we continually update and expand the skills that are required to protect the public.

Each of the three City Fire Halls is equipped with modern apparatus capable of pumping up to 1750 imperial gallons per minute of water or a foam/water combination.

Our Public Safety & Prevention Division is dedicated to promoting fire and life safety within the City of New Westminster, both for residents, business owners and visitors. Fire Protection Officers ensure that multi-residential dwellings, commercial, industrial and public buildings are compliant with the BC Fire Code. We are proactive in providing fire and life safety education programs which are key to preventing fires and eliminating property loss, serious injury or death.
