June 28, 2011 - Ewen Avenue Corridor Functional Design

Queensborough is experiencing significant development and population growth in recent years which put pressures on the existing city infrastructure. To support the community transportation needs, Ewen Avenue has a designated corridor theme that not only includes sidewalk and frontage works for local businesses and residential developments, but also accommodates multiple modes of transportation such as pedestrians, cyclists and public transit. While some segments of this collector street have already been upgraded with adjacent developments, a functional corridor design has been prepared to establish a consistent street plan.

The development of the streetscape concepts were discussed at public open houses in January 2009, June 2010 and June 2011. A set of functional plans presented at the June 2011 open house is provided in the links below. The overall project is estimated at approximately $4M which will be funded through development charge charges. The City plans to undertake the detailed design and construction in multiple phases between 2012 and 2015. The segment of Ewen Avenue between Boyd Street and Furness Street is proposed as the first phase for implementation.

The City welcomes any public feedback or comments on the functional design. A copy of the feedback form is attached. Completed forms can be sent to: Fax: 604-527-4564
