The City of New Westminster has commissioned artists Jacqueline Metz and Nancy Chew to bring a new public artwork to the city’s riverfront. Birds on a Branch is located on the Front Street Parkade, and depicts a flock of songbirds resting on branches.

A playful counterpoint to the industrial façade of the Front Street Parkade, Birds on a Branch is a lighthearted, gentle, and colourful artwork woven into the chain-link of the parkade. The chain-link fence canvas is approximately 660 feet long x 25 feet high, making it one of the largest public art installations in the region.

Please join city staff for the official public opening of Birds on a Branch on July 7 at 5:00pm at the Front Street Mews as part of the inaugural Fridays on Front event.
