Queen's Park Sewer and Watermain Work

Beginning in October 2019, the City of New Westminster will be completing utility works within Queen’s Park. This will include the installation of new storm sewers as well a watermain extension to service the new Sportsplex facility.

The City’s contractor, Targa Contracting Ltd., is scheduled to commence construction starting September 30, 2019 and is anticipated to be completed in December 2019, weather dependent.  Hours of work will be Monday to Friday, 7:00 am – 7:00 pm. Please be advised that there will be some minor interruptions with respect to the construction. There will be no access into Queen’s Park off of McBride Boulevard during construction. Access into the park will be restricted to Third Avenue.

The contractor will also be blocking off a section of the park with fencing, yellow caution tape and signs, and we respectfully ask that visitors not park in these areas. Access to parking will be impacted at times due to the nature of the work. We ask that all park users obey ‘no parking’ signs and traffic control personnel.

We will endeavor to minimize disruption as much as possible; however, as with a project of this nature, some disruption is inevitable. If special considerations are required, please contact the City’s project manager, Amir Aminpour, at 604-515-3796 or

We thank you for your patience while we complete the work to continue construction on the Queen's Park Sportsplex.
