We are excited to announce our winter winner of the Active Photo contest: Congratulations Carly!

Carly shared her journey through the city in photos of her runs using the tag #activenewwest on Twitter and we loved it. She ran through Moody Park, Mercer Stadium, Tipperary Park and Queen's Park.

When we asked Carly if she had any running tips she shared an article she'd written earlier this year aptly titled Running in New West. You'll have to read to article to find out how to get around all those hills in the city, but here are Carly's Top Tips for getting started:

1. start small, small goals, small steps, small increments

2. don't compare yourself with anyone else

3. appreciate the struggle

4. don't take yourself too seriously

5. high five friends you see in the park
