Following the direction of provincial health authorities, New Westminster Parks and Recreation has closed all community and recreation facilities to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). It is unknown when the recreation centres will be permitted to reopen. The detail below outlines how Parks and Recreation is refunding purchased services cancelled due to the Coronavirus.

Service Category

Registered Programs – all registered programs, day camps, lessons, outtrips and workshops from March 30 to June 29 are cancelled and staff are processing refunds.

Time Based Memberships – the Active 30, 90 and 365 passes have been extended by Parks and Recreation meaning the ‘time’ remaining on your pass will be preserved and available to you once the recreation centers have re-opened. During the Coronavirus closure period, all time based memberships are available for a prorated refund upon request.

Rental Bookings – if you have any space bookings, please work with the recreation centre you booked the space through to re-schedule your booking or to request a refund.

Refund Details

Refund Type – refunds are issued in two formats: a credit to your Parks and Recreation account or a credit applied to your credit card. The type of refund depends on several factors including how you originally paid for the service, if your credit card information is available on your Parks and Recreation account and/or software requirements. If the refund is issued as an account credit, you can apply it to a future purchase or request an account credit payout.

Refund Timeline - staff are actively processing a high number of refunds. Please be patient with this process that may take two weeks to complete. In addition, once staff has processed your refund, and if the refund is to your credit card, the payment processing company will need several more days to complete the refund before it appears on your statement.
