Community Response Fund supports hamper programs in our community

Thanks to the Community Response Fund, two of our local faith organizations are able to continue providing grocery hampers to those in need in our community. The response fund was launched by four partners: Vancouver Foundation, Vancity Credit Union, United Way Lower Mainland, and the City of Vancouver to support communities through the COVID-19 pandemic.

St. Barnabas Anglican Church Grocery Hamper Program

The City and St. Barnabas Church submitted an application to the Vancouver Foundation to support a modified version of their Food Cupboard Program, which was discontinued due to COVID-19. The $50,000 grant is providing for the distribution of 80 pre-packed grocery hampers on a weekly basis for a 12-week period.  The program began on Friday, April 24 and is running at the same time as previously, on Friday’s from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. Support from the City includes tents for weather protection and physical distancing set-up support provided by the City Covid Compliance Officers.
