Council Chamber to Reopen to Public
The New Westminster City Council Chamber will reopen to the public on Monday, October 5, 2020.  For the first time in six months, members of the public will be able to address Council at Open Delegations and attend the meeting in the Chamber. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Council Chamber was closed to the public in early March 2020.

Due to physical distancing requirements, the Chamber will be arranged differently from previous meetings. There will be only 10 seats in the Chamber for the public, and an additional 10 seats will be available in the main floor foyer to watch the meeting remotely.  Members of the public wishing to attend a Council meeting must register in advance.

Open Delegations practices have also been revised.  Requests for Delegations to Council must be made in advance of the meeting and a maximum of 10 delegations will be heard at each meeting.  Delegates may address Council either in person or remotely.

Registration for either attendance at Council or delegating to Council can be done the week prior to a particular meeting and can be done in several ways:

  • Submit the required information in the mailbox on the north side of City Hall
