Construction impacts near Quayside Dr.

Several concurrent construction projects are commencing this spring in and around the Waterfront Esplanade and Quayside Drive. Hours of work will be Monday-Friday, 7:00am - 8:00pm.

Waterfront Esplanade Repair Work

Fricia Construction will be performing repairs to the Esplanade between 10th Street to BC Parkway (at Quayside Park) on behalf of Engineering Services. The work will take place between April 15 and June 28, 2024. A two-metre pedestrian pathway will be maintained along the brick esplanade, but portions of the wooden boardwalk will be closed to the public. There will be equipment and a bin located on the boardwalk during construction. Signs will be placed on the esplanade to direct pedestrian and cyclist traffic.

Metro Vancouver Pump Station Upgrade

Kenaidan Construction will be performing Royal Avenue Pump Station upgrades for Metro Vancouver. This project is expected to last approximately 16 months. A two-metre path will be kept open for the public along the existing pathway west of the pump station. Five parking spaces on Quayside Drive will be used for loading/unloading (6:00 am – 6:00 pm, Monday – Friday). Project details can be found here.

Bosa Quayside Drive Roadwork

Starting early May for approximately 8 weeks (May 27 - July 22), the 600 block and 700 block of Quayside Drive (from Begbie Street to the west end of the Fraser River Discovery Centre) will be closed, with no vehicular access to the Riverfront area via Begbie Street. Detours will be in place for passenger vehicles to use the McInnes Overpass and the Third Avenue Overpass, and for large trucks to use the Third Avenue Overpass to enter and exit the Riverfront Area. Pedestrian, bicycle, and wheelchair access will be maintained during construction.
