Why Community Grants Matter

The City’s Community Grants Program provides financial support to local non-profits, organizations, and community groups delivering programs, events, and initiatives in New Westminster.

These grants help:

  • Enhance community livability

  • Strengthen social equity and inclusion

  • Support arts, culture, and cultural celebration

  • Foster belonging and connection

  • Encourage community-led solutions to local challenges

From neighbourhood events and cultural festivals to programs that support equity-seeking communities, grant funding helps bring local ideas to life and ensures community members have opportunities to connect, participate, and thrive.

The Grant Advisory Committees play a key role in this process. By bringing community perspectives into funding decisions, committee members help ensure that public funds are distributed thoughtfully, transparently, and in alignment with the City’s priorities.

Serving on a committee is not only an opportunity to give back, it is also a chance to help shape the programs and initiatives that contribute to a vibrant, inclusive New Westminster.
