Report to Council - Rezoning for Projections over Streets

On August 27, 2011 a report was presented to Council that included a Zoning Amendment Bylaw which proposed rezoning areas of the street surrounding Anvil Centre over which the building projects. The zoning of the area would change from Columbia Street Historic Districts (C-8) to Comprehensive Development Districts (Anvil Centre) (CD-35).

On April 30, 2012 an on-table report from the Anvil Centre Management Committee was presented to Council. The report provided an update on the project, proposed an amendment to the 2012-2016 Five-Year Financial Plan and submitted a draft Loan Authorization Bylaw for consideration.

On February 13, 2012 a report was presented to Council that provided information regarding the processing of the Liquor Primary Application being submitted for Anvil Centre.

Report to Council - Proposed Road Closing and Dedication Removal Bylaw

On February 6, 2012 a report was presented to Council that included a Road Closing and Dedication Removal Bylaw which proposed closing a portion of the streets surrounding Anvil Centre where the building projects past the property lines. The bylaw was adopted on March 26, 2012.

On June 27, 2011 a report was presented to Council that sought approval of Special Development Permit 176 for Anvil Centre and Office Tower. The Permit was approved by Council with the provision that the type and placement of trees around the building be looked at more closely as the project moves forward.

Report to Council - Rezoning of 731-777 Colubmia Street

On January 24, 2011 a report was presented to Council that included a Zoning Amendment Bylaw which introduced a new comprehensive zoning district, Comprehensive Development Districts (Anvil Centre) (CD-35). The bylaw also proposed to rezone the properties at 731-777 Columbia Street from Columbia Street Historic Districts (C-8) to (CD-35) in order to accommodate the proposed MUCF project. The Zoning Amendment Bylaw was adopted on March 5, 2012.

On July 12, 2010 an update was presented to Council from the Project Managers and programming consultant.  The report included recommendations for uses within the Facility based on public feedback. Council approved the facility uses, as outlined in the report, with the addition of securing 2,000 square feet of space for an art gallery.
