The City of New Westminster will host a celebration of its waterfront on June 19 from 11:00am to 2:00pm. Pier 2 Landing which will take place on Father’s Day, includes activities and performances along Westminster Pier Park, Front Street, and Sapperton Landing Park.

Please not some activities start at specific times:

The first Historical Walking Tour meets at Lytton Square at 11:30am and walks East. The tour will take approximately one hour.

The second Historical Walking Tour meets at the Sapperton Landing Coal Shed at 12:45pm and walks West. The tour will take approximately one hour.

The family bike tour led by HUB departs from Timber Wharf at 1:00pm. This relatively flat, family friendly cycling tour will be led by “HUB: Your Cycling Connection” and highlight the connections between Westminster Pier Park, Sapperton Landing and Central Valley Greenway.  It will leave the Timber Wharf at the East end of Westminster Pier Park at 1pm and follow a circuit along Front Street east to Sapperton Landing Park.  It will then follow the Central Valley Greenway west back to Downtown New Westminster to link back up with the Esplanade at 4th street or Begbie Street.

City of New Westminster staff will be on hand at the event to engage residents about the Waterfront Vision that will celebrate New Westminster’s strengths - its natural setting, vibrant downtown and year-round activities.

Other family-friendly activities include: Live entertainment, artisanal market, barbecue, bike decorating, sandcastle building, community art projects, Live5210 Playbox, a pop-up museum, historical and environmental walking tours, Paper Girl art program, cycling tours, and a bike skills rodeo.

BC Family Fishing Weekend

Every wanted to try fishing? No need to have your own pole or bait, everything is provided as part of BC’s Family Fishing Weekend. This free family activity will run from 11-2 and all are welcome to join in to see what they can catch.
