Theatre, Anvil Centre (777 Columbia Street)

The Queer Songbook Orchestra (QSO) a Toronto based 11-piece chamber ensemble consisting of top queer and allied musicians, are performing Songs of Resilience; a unique evening of music and storytelling that examines resilience in song, through the courage of the songwriter. Joined by visual artist Sean Frey and incorporating live narration, this performance takes an honest look at the contributions of LGBTQ songwriters and performers and sheds light on the contradiction of a public which adores the art but shuns the artist.   Some of the inspirational songs will include:

  • Telstar – Joe Meek,
  • Constant Craving – KD Lang
  • Come To My Window – Melissa Etheridge
  • Smalltown Boy – Bronski Beat
  • You Don’t Own Me – Lesley Gore

In partnership with the Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives with the promotional support of the New Westminster Pride Society.
