You're invited to our first opening of 2016. We're honoured to bring together four artists who question the structures, behaviours and boundaries of sound.
The works in this exhibition set up fragile and unpredictable relationships; between technologies...between expectation + our experience of silence...between anticipation and stasis...between the inaccessible + realization. Common understandings of sound are challenged; enigmatic qualities of sound are explored. The artists speculate, dissect and play with how sound unfolds and moves through space and time, between + through bodies, psychologies and technologies; encouraging us to listen and feel rather than just hear.
We're also delighted to introduce our first Artist Talk of 2016. Adam Basanta is an award-winning Canadian sound artist, originally from Vancouver, now living and working in Montreal. He is a composer, and performer of experimental music. His interdisciplinary work includes sound installations, experimental electronic and chamber music composition, site-specific interventions and laptop performance. His sound and audiovisual installations and experimental concert music have been presented and exhibited around the world.
