Volunteer appreciation with a twist!

Celebrate National Volunteer Week by joining Community Volunteer Connections, Arts Council of New Westminster and New Westminster Arts Services for "The Art of Volunteering".

6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Join us for a provocative presentation and round table discussion celebrating the volunteer contributions of artists in non-profits and arts organizations. Guest speakers K!mmortal and Kenji Maeda will share their unique experiences related to how and when they share their talent as volunteers.

K!MMORTAL is an artist of lines and rhymes. Kimmortal has been spotlighted in CBC’s “Exhibitionists” which focused on her multi-medium approach to music as a visual artist. In 2016, she released a music video to a hip hop remix of her song “Brushing by Heaven’s Shoulder” that was entirely animated, rapped and directed by Kimmortal. The music video was selected for a screening at San Francisco’s Queer Women of Colour film festival in May 2016. Since then, Kimmortal has headlined for Brown, Black Fierce festival, New West Pride festival, and Toronto’s Kultura Filipino Arts Festival.

KENJI MAEDA's experiences are diverse and grounded in his passion for the arts, education, and community. He is currently the artsVest BC Program Manager for Business for the Arts. For five years he was the Executive Director of DOXA Documentary Film Festival, Western Canada's largest documentary festival. Kenji has been a producer and production manager with local theatre companies, and has experience sitting on various boards and committees, including currently the Greater Vancouver Professional Theatre Alliance, the Society to Bridge Arts and Community, and the Alliance for Arts and Culture Summit Programming Committee.

This portion of the event is free to attend, however CVC appreciates all donations. Reserve your seat via Eventbrite.
