Balancing Act: Revitalization without gentrification
October 17, 2018
6:30 pm
8:00 pm
Douglas College, New Westminster Campus, Room 2201, 700 Royal Ave, New Westminster

This event is an Urban Challenges Forum presented by Douglas College, SFU Urban Studies, and the City of New Westminster.

The physical landscape of New Westminster isn’t the only thing changing. With a boom in development, the city is also going through a cultural metamorphosis – one that isn’t welcomed by all. How can a community evolve to appeal to new buyers and businesses without pushing longtime residents out of the very place they call home?

FEATURING - John Stark, Senior Social Planner, City of New Westminster - Tiffany Muller Myrdahl, Senior Lecturer, Department of Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies and the Urban Studies Program, Simon Fraser University - Mike McPhee (moderator), Instructor, Department of Geography and the Environment, Douglas College

This event is FREE and open to the public.
