Through the marriage of original brief narratives and poetry in the form of haiku and tanka, and vintage photographs, Cruji’s collage collection invites viewers to consider both the possible identity of narrator and influence of the ghosts of personal memories—those that are factual, and the ones that speak to us through filters of love, fear, ecstasy and regret. “The Recollection Experiment” plays with the overall notion of memory and the way it poses the questions, Whose voice do we hear when we read the words? What’s real and what isn’t?
Exhibition runs from April 3-28, 2019. Opening reception: Wed, April 3, 6-8 pm. Artist talk: Sun, April 14, 3-4 pm.
