Volume #30 – It’s BIG PechaKucha New Westminster will present its Volume #30 at the Massey Theatre on Friday November 4th. Speakers will use the unique PK storytelling style using 20 images, speaking just 20 seconds per image. PKNW #30 is being presented in association with the BC Farmer’s Market’s Association which is hosting their annual conference in New Westminster this year. PechaKucha New Westminster has been presenting events since 2013. During 2021 they presented three online events and then returned to presenting in person events this past April at the historic Bernie Legge Theatre which sold out a week before the event. Other venues over the years have included The Anvil Theatre, Columbia Theatre, Knox Presbyterian Church, Riverside Market, and even outside at Queens Park. Each volume brings together people from the community to talk about topics and things that they love. With a general theme of FOOD and RISING UP from the pandemic (the conference theme is “Rise Up”), speakers to date include: Jen Arbo (food blogger), (Johnathan Baylis (jazz musician), Alexandra Brigham (Organic Farmer), Mary Chernoff (Interior Designer, Artist, Author), Raymond Liens (avid home cook/New West resident), Melissa Maltais (mom of a picky eater), Barb Pearson (sustainable farmer), Bill Pickard (food, music & technology Nerd), Kevin Schwantje (foodie/New West resident). What is PechaKucha? PechaKucha is a format for sharing ideas in which presenters are allotted 20 slides and 20 seconds per slide. Simply put: it's 6 minutes and 40 seconds of show and tell for grown-ups. It began in Tokyo in 2003, has since spread to over 1,200 cities worldwide. PechaKucha Volume #30 will take place on Friday November 4, at The Massey Theatre, 735 Eighth Avenue, New Westminster. 8PM. Doors open at 7PM.
