The Arts Council of New Westminster (ACNW), in partnership with the Arts Council of Surrey (ACS), the Fraser Valley Heritage Railway Society (FVHRS), and the Langley Arts Council (LAC), are excited to present the juried exhibition Paint the Train. Artists were invited to submit entries that represented their artistic view of the impact of railways (electric, steam, diesel) in the region since 1886. Judging this year’s entries were professional photographer Scarlet Black, ACS Director and retired visual art teacher Marc Pelech, and highly recognized Langley visual artist Brian Croft. Artists rendered their own interpretations of the railway’s impact through a variety of mediums and winners were selected in four categories: Drawing and Painting, Mixed Media, Photography and Digital Art, and a Junior Category. Winning pieces from the Surrey Exhibition at the Newton Cultural Center (Nov. 3 – 29th) travelled on to the Township of Langley Civic Centre from December 9, 2022 – January 4, 2023, and will round out their journey at The Gallery at Queen’s Park from January 6 – 29th, 2023.
