How do we preserve the social, environmental and economic benefits to our City?
With the recently proposed housing changes by the Provincial Government, there is uncertainty about potential impacts on New Westminster. This includes concerns about our legacy of historically important streets, homes, and properties. At a recent meeting of local heritage groups, it was clear that there is a lot of passion – and support – for preserving our rich architectural heritage and the many benefits it brings to our City.

As a next step, Heritage New West invites interested community members to share their thoughts on this important topic, addressing questions such as:
● How do we define the social, environmental and economic value of our built heritage?
● How can we effectively communicate the benefits that heritage preservation brings to our City?
● What ideas or suggestions do you have for preserving our expanding these benefits?
● What can our Mayor and City Council do to ensure the Province hears our concerns?
● How can our elected federal and provincial representatives support this initiative?
Event Details:
This will be a facilitated event on Sunday, June 9, from 2 pm to 4 pm at the Royal City Curling Club. The community feedback received will be compiled into a report and submitted to the City and Province for consideration and use.
