Taking place on the last weekend of each month, Super Weekend is a series of public programs geared toward families. There are lots of activities that explore different features of the Fraser River, from its booming industry to its diverse ecosystem!
The smoky season is upon us, and with it the promise of future forest renewal. Fire is an essential and healthy part of the river ecosystem that has been monitored and managed in many forms by First Nations communities for generations. As our climate becomes hotter and drier; however, the potential impact of fires also grows in complicated, and sometimes devastating, ways.
From ignition through to the growth of new seedlings, join us for July’s Super Weekend to get to know this fiery force!
- Learn how wildfires can start and move through the landscape.
- Observe plant adaptations to surviving fire.
- Mimic the effects of a prescribed burn.
