Christmas comes to New Westminster on Sunday, December 15th at the Sanctuary located at the corner of 6th Street and Queens at 2:00PM. The New Westminster Symphony Orchestra will be presenting its first ever Christmas Comes To Town concert which you won’t want to miss. You’ll be hearing many of your favourites along with some that may not be known to you that will soon be new favourites. Joining us for the concert are noted soprano Olesia Shewchuk and actor Carlos Vela-Martinez as your Master of Ceremonies. Olesia will be soloing on Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, Victor Herbert’s Toyland and O Holy Night. Carlos will be giving a Christmas reading that is sure to delight . Making up the rest of the concert will be Leroy Anderson’s enchanting Sleigh Ride and his Christmas Festival , The Christmas Song better known as Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire, written by Mel Torme on a blistering, hot day in Los Angeles, Sergei Prokofiev’s Troika from the Lieutenant Kije Suite which rocker Greg Lake turned into the modern hit I Believe in Father Christmas, Victor Herbert’s March of the Toys from Babes in Toyland and an assortment of suites and overtures by such noted composers as Nicolai Rimsky –Korsakov and Cesar Franck.
Admission is by donation and free parking is available at City Hall.
