Call for participation
with artist Annie Briard
Deadline to participate: September 8 2017
Introducing the “Pop-Up Home” public art project and call for participation:
Pop-Up Home is a public art project being created by artist Annie Briard commissioned by the City of New Westminster’s Museum and Arts Services departments. Using portable video projectors, the artist will be projecting varied images of temporary homes around the city of New Westminster, which will then be photographed and presented as a large-scale artwork in the Brewery District. The work will seek to engage with discussions about housing politics, land ownership, and our relationship to the natural environment.
The public is invited to take part in this project in 2 ways:
1. Share images of what represents a "pop up home" to you by posting to your Instagram or twitter with the hashtag #PopupHomeNW or emailing the artist ()
2. Tell us about locations you suggest as projection surfaces by engaging with the Museum’s facebook page or Instagram or emailing the artist ()
Participants will have the chance to have their image or location included in the final artwork which will be installed on the Brewery District building and be acknowledged on our social media. Some participants may be invited to share their stories to be included in a Museum exhibition following the public installation.
This project has been made possible in part by the Government of Canada.
