Chuck Puchmayr has been a resident of New Westminster since 1978.
Chuck was first elected to city council in 1996 and served in this role until 2005, when he was elected Member of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia for New Westminster. As the Opposition Labour Critic in Victoria, Chuck advocated for working families on a host of issues until he stepped down from provincial politics in 2009. Chuck ran and was reelected to New Westminster council in 2011 and 2014.
Chuck currently serves as Chair of the Emergency Advisory Committee, the Multicultural Advisory Committee, the Community Railway Committee, and the Restorative Justice Committee. He is also a member of the Land Use Planning Committee and the affordable housing task force.
Chuck is an active volunteer for many local organizations, and has been recognized for his volunteer contributions by receiving the Diamond Jubilee medal and the Chamber of commerce Citizen of the Year Award. Chuck is the founder and a volunteer for A Beef with Hunger Society, an organization which raises Beef and produce for the HIV food banks as well as non-profit meal providers.
Chuck is a transplant survivor and continues to be a vocal volunteer for BC Transplant.
He is a resident of the West End of New Westminster and together with his partner Amber Anderson, and has four adult children.
