New Westminster – Families will have their choice of free and fun events to enjoy on Family Day in New Westminster. On Monday February 8 there will be eleven different event sites throughout the city, offering free activities ranging from fitness classes and trivia games to table hockey and Nintendo.

“Family Day encourages families to spend some quality time together,” said Councillor Chuck Puchmayr Chair of the Family Day Committee. “We’re partnering with other organizations throughout the city to provide families accessible spaces to play and connect. There are lots of free events being offered, so there is something for everyone.”

Festivities in downtown New Westminster begin at 11:00am, with events happening at Anvil Centre, River Market, and Fraser River Discover Centre. Events throughout the rest of New Westminster can take families from the greenhouse at Queens Park, where you can build a small garden to take home, to Century House & Youth Centre where there will be a parents versus kids trivia competition.

A complete list of events can be found on the City of New Westminster website,

Family Day events are presented by City of New Westminster’s Family Day Committee and the event is sponsored by Eric and Juliana Vallee Marketing Systems, The Royal City Record, and The Province of British Columbia.
