Mandate: The Public Art Advisory Committee (PAAC) provides expert community input on public art policies, projects and procedures of New Westminster.  This input includes reviewing public art projects, managing, conserving, maintaining, repairing and altering artwork in the municipal inventory.  The role of PAAC is to encourage the development and promote awareness of public art in New Westminster.  PAAC is responsible for developing a Public Art Master Plan for consideration by Council and monitoring the Master Plan’s implementation.  PAAC acts as a resource to City Council and to its boards, agencies, commissions and staff, and to developers and citizens, and strives to provide objective advice on any matter where public art is involved.  PAAC is also responsible for drafting the terms of reference for each Public Art selection jury and the appointment of jury members.  PAAC also increases awareness and appreciation of the economic and social benefits of murals in the community, and establishes and recommends technical and artistic guidelines for murals.
