Facility Updates

What we've updated and pending updates.

Since the phased opening of təməsew̓txʷ Aquatic and Community Centre on April 29, we’ve collected several messages with your comments and feedback.

We’re listening! Below are the most common issues raised and what we are doing to address them. 

We continue to address deficiencies and make adjustments to our processes. However, some changes will take longer than others to put in place and we ask that you remain patient.

COMPLETED CHANGES

  1. Limited Water Pressure - We’ve increased the water pressure in the change room and on-deck showers!
  2. Parking - Lines in the first parking lot have been updated where possible. Our second parking lot is now open!
  3. Room Temperatures - Most issues with balancing the air temperatures in rooms throughout the facility have been addressed and we are continuing to be monitored and tweaked.
  4. Cleaner Change Rooms - We have monitored the use of the change rooms and adjusted our staffing schedule to improve cleanliness. We will continue to monitor this.
  5. Adjustable Depth Portion of the Lap Pool - Now that our bulkheads have been installed our adjustable height floor and accessible stairs in the shallow end are ready for use. This area is available for lane swimming, water running, and shallow aquafit. Additionally, there is now more space for swimming lessons and aquafit classes. Ongoing training of staff for bulkhead transitions is taking place.
  6. Check-in for Sports & other Drop-in Programs - We’ve added a card system for drop-in programs and are evaluating as we go. Cashiers and Sport Attendants are being trained to make check-ins more efficient. This process is being evaluated over the coming months as we look to better support drop-in sport programs.
  7. Personal Storage - There are plenty of free lockers in the universal change space by the pool but we’ve heard the request for additional spaces to store or place personal items. Hooks have being added to the back of change room stalls and doors and a water bottle shelf by the sauna.
  8. Slide - We now have a tot slide in the leisure pool.
  9. Change Room Showers - Temperatures have been adjusted. New hardware has been installed to address shut off issues.  
  10. Hot Tub Showers - Cold water now available! You can now cool off after a hot tub, steam, or sauna.
  11. Accessible Ladders - Custom off-the-wall accessible ladders are now located in the lap pool for easy entry into the middle section and deep end. 

 

CHANGES COMING SOON

  1. Change Room Signage - New change room signage is on its way and will be replaced under warranty due to a defect causing fading. Some signs have already been replaced.
  2. Hot Tub Showers - New shutoff handles are on the way.
  3. Shoe Racks - We have temporary shoe tracks in place while something more permanent is being sourced.
  4. Benches - We are looking to see if additional benches can be installed in the change rooms.
  5. Scales - We have two scales on order for the fitness centre and pool deck.
  6. Sauna Clock - A clock for the sauna is being ordered

 

WHAT WE CAN’T FIX QUITE YET

  1. Water Fountains - Due to the limited wall space, we are looking at the feasibility of adding a water fountain system near the sauna and steam room.
