Starting February 2019 until approximately mid-May, the City of New Westminster's contractor, Complete Utility Contractors Ltd., will be replacing a water main on Braid Street from Brunette Avenue to Canfor Avenue.
The existing water main has reached the end of its life and requires replacement in order to maintain the city’s water service into the Braid Industrial Park for both domestic use and fire protection.
The water main replacement is occurring prior to the final phase of the multi-use path construction due to pending railway approvals. The multi-use path construction is anticipated to occur in spring 2019 following the water main work but is provisional to railway approval.
The impacts associated with the water main replacement are as follows:
- Traffic- The contractor will endeavor to maintain vehicle traffic in each direction during construction; however, delays can be expected.
- Driveways- At various stages of the work, access to driveways may be temporarily interrupted. The contractor will coordinate any anticipated interruptions with individual properties in advance to minimize inconveniences.
- Parking - On-street parking will be temporarily unavailable in the work area during construction.
