Queen's Park Sportsplex

A 12,000 sq ft facility is scheduled to break ground in August 2019 with expected completion in March 2020.

Programming and usage will replace those held at the former Queen’s Park Arenex:

  • Gymnastics
  • Preschool Programs (Motoring Munchkins)
  • Ball Hockey
  • Adult drop-in badminton & volleyball

Currently, Gymnastics and Preschool Programs are being held at the Royal City Curling Club and drop-in basketball is available at Queensborough Community Center. See Recreation Programs and Brochures for more information on course times and locations.

Key Features
The Sportsplex will have transparent boards surrounding the program space, enhancing the playing experience for ball hockey and allowing for spectators of all ages to view all sporting activities taking place in the facility.
In an effort to strive for improved access and ability, a universal washroom is also included in the design of the facility making it the second civic washroom of its kind in New Westminster.
Project Budget
The majority of the $5.5 million project budget will be paid through insurance monies ($4.35 million) received from the collapsed Queen’s Park Arenex as well as grant funding of $1.1 million.

The facility will be located on the former Queen’s Park Reservoir, southeast of the New Westminster Skate Park. The Sportsplex will share parking with Queen’s Park Stadium and Queen’s Park Arena.
