June 2025 Update
Construction update
Extension of the sidewalk on McInnes overpass and adding four bulges at the Quayside Dr, K de K intersection St will begin late mid to end of June, 2025. This project is expected to take approximately six months, weather permitting.
Construction hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, and Saturdays (if needed), 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Construction impact
We thank you for your patience during this necessary work. We will endeavor to minimize disruptions; however, given the nature of the work, some disruption is inevitable to allow safe movement of pedestrians, and vehicles and to ensure the safety of construction crews.
Please note that parking and vehicle movement will be disrupted during construction while the contractor is trenching and pouring new concrete and dowelling on the existing sidewalk. Intersection will be paved afterwards.
What’s happening
To better support walking, cycling, and transit around Quayside Drive and the McInnes Overpass, the City of New Westminster is implementing improvements from the McInnes Street Overpass to the intersection of Quayside Drive and K de K Court.
McInnes Overpass Sidewalk:
The work includes widening the sidewalk throughout the intersection and constructing a reinforced concrete sidewalk along the east side of the McInnes Street Overpass structure. It also involves installing new storm infrastructure such as catch basins and manholes, placing electrical conduit, milling and resurfacing the asphalt, applying thermoplastic pavement markings, updating roadway signage, and completing surface restoration.
Intersection Safety at Quayside Drive:
Improvements include curb bulges at all four corners of the intersection of Quayside Drive and K de K Court at McInnes Street, as well as sidewalk widening throughout the intersection.
