Bird\'s eye view of Park Space C
New riverfront park connecting to Westminster Pier Park.

We are excited to share the news about the upcoming new riverfront park, designed to seamlessly connect with Westminster Pier Park. This addition will bring more green space and recreational opportunities to the riverfront.

Construction commenced mid-June with an anticipated completion date of March 2026 (partial opening), though this schedule is weather dependent. We are committed to keeping you informed through construction.

Updates will be provided on this page and through the City’s official communication channels.

project background

This park will be located on the west side of Westminster Pier Park, next to the 660 Quayside development.

It is designed for active use and includes a quiet area near the residential tower. A central multi-use path will run through the park and will also serve as a service lane connecting to Westminster Pier Park at the Sixth Street pedestrian overpass. The park will have several "outdoor rooms" with different features, including an outdoor fitness area, table tennis, a small off-leash dog area, and various seating options. To the south of the path, a large open plaza with raised lawn areas will offer great riverfront views. The plaza will also have a seasonal interactive water play area, special lighting, custom paving, seating, and a performance stage for events. At the park’s east entrance, there will be a public art installation created by two First Nations artists.

project impacts

Typical work hours will be Monday to Friday 7:00 am – 5:00 pm, and some work may be required after 5:00 pm and on Saturdays, later in the project. All work will be in accordance with the Construction Noise Bylaw No. 6063, 1992.

Construction vehicles will access the site from Begbie Street, with traffic control personnel as needed to manage traffic.

The site will be closed during construction for safety. However, a safe emergency exit will be maintained from the Pier West parkade stairs through the construction area. The Riverfront Esplanade connection from the Fraser River Discovery Centre to Westminster Pier Park will be open for public use. If any intermittent closures are required, on site signage will be posted in advance.

We are committed to minimizing any disruptions during construction. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to bring this new riverfront park to New Westminster!
