WHAT’S HAPPENING
We are pleased to share that the City of New Westminster’s Parks and Recreation Department will be installing a new digital sign at the entrance of Queensborough Community Centre along Ewen Avenue.
This vibrant, modern signage will serve as a welcoming gateway to the facility, marking its presence and enhancing communication with the community. Designed to reflect the spirit of connection, the sign will help promote local events, programs, and updates - keeping residents informed and engaged.
Thoughtful Design and Placement
The location of the sign has been carefully selected in consultation with multiple City departments to ensure clear visibility without obstructing sightlines or impacting safety. (Please refer to the image on the reverse side.)
Minimizing Light Impact
We understand the importance of maintaining neighbourhood comfort and preserving our night skies. To that end, the digital sign will:
- Operate on a dawn-to-dusk lighting schedule, aligning with natural light patterns.
- Be equipped with automatic brightness sensors to adjust to ambient lighting conditions.
- Feature timers to ensure it is not illuminated during overnight hours.
- Be designed to minimize light spill, reducing potential light pollution for nearby residents.
Supporting Community Navigation
The new sign will also function as a wayfinding feature, improving how visitors locate and access the Queensborough Community Centre and surrounding park amenities.
HOURS OF WORK
Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm
Sign installation and testing will occur December 2025 through early-Spring 2026 with traffic controls and limited parking implications.
The City thanks residents and visitors for their patience throughout the construction process. We are committed to minimizing any inconvenience during the construction period.
