2021-2022 Sapperton Infrastructure Replacement Program

Construction will begin on Richmond Street starting June 27, 2022.

Project Details

The project will include sewer separation work and replacing water mains that are at the end of their service life and due for replacement. The water main and sanitary sewer replacement program is intended to renew our aging infrastructure and to improve quality and capacity where required.

Impacted Roads - Richmond Street

Part 1
Richmond Street between Simpson Street and Hospital Street

Part 2
Richmond Street between Hospital Street to E. Eighth Avenue

Preparation work will begin on June 27 and will involve single lane alternating traffic around the work zone. This will last approximately one week.

Project Update

Crews are currently completing installation of water services and hydrants along Richmond Street, which involves digging from the water main to the property line. This work is scheduled to be completed the week of September 26, 2022. Catch basins will also be finalized the week of October 17, 2022. 

The final tie-in to the existing water main is scheduled to be completed on October 21, 2022. Restoration work across the site will be completed following the last watermain tie-in. Road paving will also take place aftewrards, weather depending.

Saturdays: 9:00 am - 6:00 pm

Residents surrounding the construction area may experience some minor inconveniences, such as noise, dust, vibration, and construction vehicle traffic. Temporary intermittent delays may be experienced. Parking restrictions and sidewalk closures will be in effect. Garbage and recycling pick up will not be impacted.
