Metro Vancouver Central Park Watermain Upgrade

Project Update:

Central Park Main Prebuild-Seventh Ave

Dates: Jan-06 to Jan-13, 2025

Traffic Impacts:

  • Seventh Ave will be completely closed between Sixth St & Lane to west of Sixth St. Local traffic to access Seventh Ave via Eighth St.

  • Southside sidewalk on Seventh Ave will be closed between Sixth St & Lane to west of Sixth St. Pedestrians are detoured to opposing side.

  • Eastbound bike lane along Seventh Ave  between Sixth St & Lane to west of Sixth St will be closed. 

Metro Vancouver is replacing the Central Park Water Main to help ensure the continued delivery of high-quality drinking water well into the future. The existing water main was built in the 1930s and is reaching the end of its service life.

The Pre-Build stage runs along Seventh Avenue from Fifth Street to Eighth Street and will be effected starting June 2024 for 2-3 months.  This is also to accommodate the City's construction of the Crosstown Greenway.

Temporary full intersection closures as well as partial lane closures will occur throughout the project.

The following bus routes will be temporarily rerouted: 101, 105, 106 and 123.
