pROJECT UPDATE
September 16th update
The project is substantially complete, with the exception of trees which will be installed in October. Planting during the summer heat can stress young trees and increase the risk of failure. Deficiencies will also be addressed once the portion of construction at Sixth Street and Princess Street is complete.

Construction will start September 15th through November
Traffic Impacts
- Sidewalk will remain open but may be restricted to 1.5m to 1.8m wide.
- Access to Princess St will remain open
- Taxi zone will be used as a temporary loading zone
Project Details
Please be advised that the City of New Westminster’s contractor, GPM CIVIL CONTRACTING, is scheduled to commence the Uptown Plaza and Sixth St Public Realm Works. The primary extents of the project are on Sixth Street, from Sixth Avenue to Belmont Street, and Belmont Plaza (located on Belmont Street between Sixth Street and midblock to Seventh Street). It will also include improvements to the west side of Sixth Street between Princess Street and Sixth Avenue.

Monday - Friday: 7am-8pm
Saturday: 9am-6pm
Traffic Impacts
Temporary lane closures may be in effect during working hours. Expect delays.
We will endeavor to minimize disruption as much as possible to businesses and residents. However, as with a project of this nature, please expect some additional noise and dust during construction. If special consideration is required, please contact the City’s project manager.
