Brunette Ave & Sherbrooke St Intersection Upgrade - RCH Redevelopment

April 7th to September 2025

Roadwork to begin at Brunette Avenue and Sherbrooke Street

Project information

As part of the Royal Columbian Hospital redevelopment project, the intersection at Brunette Avenue and Sherbrooke Street is being widened to allow large trucks to use this route for hospital deliveries.

This work supports the City's plans to turn East Columbia Street into a 'Great Street' with wider sidewalks, narrower intersections, and restrictions on large trucks.

Traffic Impacts

Construction will begin April 7th and is expected to continue through September 2025.

Permitted work hours on Brunette Avenue:
Monday to Saturday: 9am - 3pm

  • Vehicle traffic must use East Columbia Street for access to Sherbrooke Street.
  • Exit from Sherbrooke Street onto East Columbia Street, not Brunette Avenue.
  • Parking along Sherbrooke Street between Wilson Street and Brunette Avenue will be impacted throughout the project.
  • Traffic control personnel will guide vehicles at driveways along Sherbrooke Street, vehicles turning from Rousseau Street onto Brunette Avenue, as well as vehicles turning to and from East Columbia Street.
  • The sidewalks on Sherbrooke Street near the work area will be closed.
  • There will be a temporary pedestrian ramp on Brunette Avenue.
  • Cyclists should avoid the area and use the East Columbia Street bike lanes instead.
