Seventh Street - ATNP Year 1 Implementation
Project Details
The City of New Westminster is upgrading Seventh Street between Queens Avenue and Sixth Avenue as part of Year 1 implementation of the All Ages and Abilities (AAA) Active Transportation Network Plan. This project is designed to improve safety, comfort, and accessibility for people walking, cycling, and rolling through the Uptown neighbourhood.
The improvements will include:
- New protected bike lanes
- Upgraded pedestrian infrastructure
- Enhanced street features and traffic calming
- A permanent conversion of Seventh Street to a one-way northbound configuration from Queens Ave to Fifth Ave.
Construction will be completed in phases to minimize disruption to residents and businesses.

Project Update
Project Timeline
- January 2026: Crews will prioritize the completion of signage revisions and pavement marking updates to improve road clarity.
- Winter/Spring 2026: Milling and paving of the Belmont and Seventh intersection will be performed as soon as weather conditions are favorable for asphalt application.
- New Year (Weather Permitting): Restoration of the sidewalks at Agnes Street is scheduled to commence, pending suitable dry weather windows.
What's Next
- Completion Targets: The project is on track for Substantial Completion in January 2026, with final asphalt paving to follow as the primary remaining item once the weather improves.
