Ewen Avenue and Carter Street Raised Crosswalk

Anticipated construction dates: July 2–14

Project Information

The City of New Westminster has contracted Winvan Paving to install a raised crosswalk and curb bulge as part of the Pedestrian Crossing Improvement Program.

Construction is scheduled to take place from July 2 to July 14, 2026.

The project includes upgrading the pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Ewen Avenue and Carter Street, providing improved access to the north entrance of the Queensborough Community Centre and Queensborough Middle School.

Traffic Impacts

Access to the Queensborough Community Centre and Queensborough Middle School will be maintained, however, intermittent disruptions may occur throughout the construction period.

Traffic control measures will be in place on Ewen Avenue. Users may experience changes to traffic patterns and occasional delays during median construction and pavement marking operations.

To reduce the impact on the public, signs will be provided to direct users, and traffic control personnel will be on site to assist. The contractor will coordinate construction activities to minimize disruptions wherever possible.

Traffic in both directions on Ewen Avenue will be affected during the construction of the new curbs, concrete median, raised crosswalk, and associated curb let-downs.

Temporary lane closures may be required during working hours. All users are advised to expect delays and allow extra travel time.

Hours of Work:
7:00 am to 4:00 pm
