What is the Park Liaison Officer Program?

Park Liaison Officers are meant to ensure New Westminster parks remain welcoming, vibrant and safe for everyone.

Park Liaison Officers work to provide a visible helpful presence for park users, while mitigating and minimizing vandalism. They also encourage park users to be able to report concerns, including through educating others about how and when to report issues to City staff. 

Where will I see Park Liaison Officers?

Park Liaison Officers will be proactively and reactively patrolling at New Westminster parks. During the early days, you'll most likely see them at Westminster Pier Park, but you may also see them at other parks around the City.

Please note: the phone line is monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It does not accept text messages. 

The Park Liaison inbox (email) is monitored from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays. 

When should I contact a Park Liaison Officer?

• If you observe vandalism
• If you observe nuisance behaviour

When should I call 9-1-1?

9-1-1 should be called when:

• There is an immediate threat to someone's life
• There is an active crime in progress
• You see open burning
