Stray Animals

If you have found a domestic animal that you believe is lost, please call us at 604-519-2008.

Dogs are not allowed to roam in New Westminster. Please provide us with as much information as possible – size/colour of dog, direction in which it was moving, and exact location you saw it last.

We will check our Lost Pet Reports to see if someone has reported the dog missing. We will also be able to trace any identification the dog may have, such as a New Westminster dog license tag, a tattoo, or a microchip. If you have the dog, you can bring it to the shelter at 231 Ewen Avenue during regular hours, or we may be able to pick it up.

If you find a dog after hours, we regret that we are unable to impound the dog until we open the next morning.

Cats are allowed to roam, as long as they are sterilized and identified. Chances are the cat belongs to someone, especially if it is friendly. However, if you think the cat is truly homeless or you are worried about its health/safety, please contact us. We will check our Lost Pet Reports to see if someone has reported the cat missing. We will also be able to trace any identification the cat may have, such as a tattoo or microchip. If you have the cat, you can bring it to the shelter at 231 Ewen Avenue during regular hours, or we may be able to pick it up.

If you find a cat after shelter hours, we regret that we are unable to impound the cat until we open the next morning.
